Passion: The Essential Collection – Review and Giveaway

passiontheessentialcollectionSince their inception in 1995, Passion has been THE driving force in Modern Worship Music. There is no other movement that has done more to push passionate worship into the focus of worship ministries around the world.

And what I love about Passion, is that they aren’t just about conferences and selling CD’s. Yes, they do that too, but they have a desire to bring glory to God in a new generational context. The following is taken from site:

FROM ITS START IN 1995, THE PASSION MOVEMENT HAS HAD A SINGULAR MISSION—CALLING STUDENTS FROM CAMPUSES ACROSS THE NATION AND AROUND THE WORLD TO LIVE FOR WHAT MATTERS MOST. FOR US, WHAT MATTERS MOST IS THE NAME AND RENOWN OF JESUS CHRIST. WE BELIEVE IN THIS GENERATION AND ARE WATCHING GOD USE THEM TO CHANGE THE CLIMATE OF FAITH AROUND THE GLOBE.

SINCE THE FIRST GATHERING IN 1997, PASSION HAS HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF ENCOUNTERING MILLIONS OF STUDENTS AND 18-25 YEAR OLDS, A SEA OF YOUNG PEOPLE WHOSE LIVES HAVE BEEN TRANSFORMED BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. THEIR VOICE IS GETTING LOUDER AS THEY RISE, UNITED AS A GENERATION, BRINGING HOPE AND LIGHT TO THE WORLD.

SINCE 2007, BELIEVING WORSHIP + JUSTICE ARE TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN, STUDENTS AT PASSION HAVE GENEROUSLY GIVEN OVER $14 MILLION TO 70 AMAZING PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS AROUND THE WORLD.

And, that’s the part I love about passion. Yes, they are gathering young people to worship, but they have also been using their influence to encourage students to respond in worship with more than just song.

This compilation covers the highlights of this movement. As you read the title track below, you’ll find that there probably isn’t a song on the list that you haven’t sung. They’re standards in churches.

For that reason, I don’t need to review this album in the way I handle other reviews, because these tracks are already tried and true. Instead, let me encourage you to pick up a copy of this album. Not just for the music. But for the DVD as well. You’ll find videos of some of the songs, but what I appreciate most are the talks by Louie Giglio. They are worth the price of the collection.

To prove to you that you should have this, we are giving away three copies of this collection. So, be sure to enter the contest below!
