Album Review – Passion – Take It All

There’s a new album hitting the streets today – “Take it All” – the newest album from passion. Of course it’s not “passion” it’s a live recording of some of todays biggest Worship artists. Names such as: Chris Tomlin, Crowder, Matt Redman, Christy Nockels, Kristian Stanfill along with special guest performances.

Let me start by saying, everything you have come to expect from passion rings true on this album as well. You will find excellence and worship.

But, to keep my review simple this time, I want to focus in on one thing I noticed on this album. It’s not particularly new, in fact, what I noticed takes me back to days long past.

And that’s this: the songwriting on this album takes a particularly refreshing turn. As we have progressed left and right across the spectrum of content and feeling, I found a particularly rewarding balance of both in this album.

Of course, this was one of Passion’s trademarks as they emerged on the scene over a decade ago. With the popularity of groups like vineyard, there was a lot of feeling but not a lot of content. While I don’t have a problem with feeling and emotionally driven worship, I do feel there needs to be a balance.

And balance is what I found in this album. There is balance between emotion and content. It’s a combination I could easily argue is quite biblical. There is both “spirit and truth” contained within the album. I could also easily make the case for there being a combination of “psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.”

It’s an album that will be well worth your time and investment simply for the music.

But that’s not all. There’s also a DVD with a few videos of the songs on it as well as a powerful talk from Louie Giglio. If you’ve listened to the podcast, you know that both Kevin & I lean toward having physical copies of your music as it is. But, with additional content like this, you really ought to get your hands on a physical copy of this album. It’s a great resource for worship leaders and worship teams. It will help you take your team to a deeper level of worship, and all you have to do is share it with them.

In fact, if you want to get your hands on a physical copy of it, make sure to come back tomorrow where we will be giving away three copies of it!

And, lastly, make sure to listen to the next episode of the podcast which is set to air on friday of this week when Kevin & I will talk about this album to give you our perspective on it.

Happy Worshipping!
