Kevin’s Weekend Review: 5-31-09

This past week I was on vacation, so I decided to something very simple this Sunday.  I grabbed my best acoustic guitar player and asked him if he would be willing to lead the music.  Dan has done a lot of playing and even led some during college, but it’s been awhile since he was up front on Sunday.  Still, I knew that he had the potential and we’ve even talked about him doing some worship leadership.

So, Dan said yes and it was just him and me on Sunday… and it was AWESOME!  I probably had more positive feedback this Sunday then I have in a long time.  People really enjoyed the laid back, coffeehouse vibe.  Dan led most of the songs and I sang tenor and played some backup piano.  Dan did a really great job and I think he realized some of his potential for future worship leadership.

Here’s what we did on Sunday:

  • Sing Your Praise (original song I wrote)
  • Welcome / Sunday School update
  • Commission Lisa for ministry in the Czech Republic
  • Body Life / Offering Prayer
  • Here I Am To Worship (Tim Hughes)
  • Better is One Day (Matt Redman)
  • God of Wonders (City on a Hill)
  • Knowing You (Billy Foote I think??)
  • How Great is Our God (Chris Tomlin)

In all, it was very nice and easy Sunday.  And it was great for me because it didn’t require much prep time for me.  Dan didn’t need any charts and we didn’t need any special practices.  It was great coming off vacation and being able to trust in my leaders to take care of business.  Check out more of these reviews at Fred’s blog.
