Weekend Review – 05-3031-09

This weekend was a conglomeration of talents. We had a drummer play who had never played for us on a weekend before, and he only had two hours to prepare. We had an electric guitarist who is normally one of our drummers. He’s growing in his guitar skills and is extremely interested in electric guitar. The others were in their normal roles, but those two key roles had the potential to mess with some of the songs.

However, everything ended up being pretty good. Practice yesterday was pretty rough, but last night went pretty well, and this morning’s service went even better.

On a sad note, we said good-bye to one of our pastors today. Since our finances have been a little smaller than normal, we had to let go of one of our pastors and today was his last day. That kind of put a certain hamper on things, but I think we recovered fairly well.

Here was our set:

  • Awesome is the Lord Most High
  • Pastor Send-off
  • Indescribable
  • God of Wonders (The forgivenmuch arr. we used at Easter)
  • Be Thou My Vision (My Arr. with a Bridge I wrote for it)
  • Sermon
  • I’ll Go Where You Want Me To Go (My Arr. of the old hymn with a few word changes)

This was also the end of our “So You’re Dead Now What?” Series. So, we’re done with trying to find songs about Heaven. I actually ran out of songs that we knew that had a heaven theme, so I went a little different direction.

Some excellent songs in your list. That’s sad when finances force you to make decisions you wouldn’t otherwise make. I trust that your pastor was able to find something else. Is he leaving the fellowship or just stepping down as a paid minister? That’s a hard thing, I’m sure.

I should just go “ditto” to windbag’s comments and questions up there shouldn’t I.

Just FYI, great newer song on the same theme as your last one is Where You Go, I’ll Go by Brian & Jenn Johnson. Awesome song.
