Weekend Review – 03-1415-09

Mar 15, 09 Weekend Review – 03-1415-09

This weekend we had the worship choir singing with us, so we had a pretty laid back band. I kind of rushed the choir into singing this weekend, because I wanted to do some promo to round up some people for our Easter Choir. They did a great job.

We had some technical issues, we couldn’t get the choir up loud enough as they were right in front of the drum cage. Even though the drums are fully enclosed, we finally got them up in this mix during our service this morning by adding another mic.

It was probably a frustrating week for the band, as they were primarily a “pit band” who accompanied the choir, but they did a great job and hope they enjoyed their time.

I love choir! Choir is still pretty new to us. I guess they used to have one here way back in the day, but they haven’t had one at all for the last 7 or 8 years except for the occasional song for Easter or Christmas. I’m really excited about the possibilities that having a choir will bring us.

Here was our set:

  • All The Earth Will Sing Your Praises
  • Your Grace is Enough
  • Welcome
  • Choir Promo Video
  • Easter Choir Announcement
  • Majestic (Brewster)
  • How Can I keep from Singing
  • Sermon
  • Be the Centre

Your Grace Is Enough. I’ve been banned from leading that one, because I can’t keep the groove. Now that we added another guitar player, maybe he can drive it and I can lead it now. Good list.

  2. We’ve been toying with the idea of adding a “choir”, particularly with Exalted (Yahweh).
Do your people seem to enjoy it?

  3. We had a choir for awhile and we struggled with getting enough people to participate. Everyone wanted to do special service choir(Christmas & Easter) but no one wanted to sing in the choir on a weekly basis. So we finally did away with the weekly choir for awhile and now we just do special service choir. It seems to work as we had a good number who committed to the Christmas Choir. I would love to figure out how to get people interested in singing in the choir weekly!

  4. I found myself singing through your whole setlist.

Do you usually just have one song as a response to the sermon? Or do you mix it up every week?
