Weekend Review – 02-1415-09
This is one of those times that Having a Saturday night service really impacted us. Generally speaking it seems to be a pretty convenient time for a large group of our body and the people who serve on a weekend, but when that service falls on Valentine’s Day, it makes things a little bit more challenging.
Knowing it would be difficult, I had our secretary start calling two weeks ago to try to find out who would be available. The only problem is that we did hear from some of them until a few days before the weekend, which didn’t leave any time to find replacements on a weekend like this one.
That said, I decided to back the band all the way down to just piano and two vocals. So instead of looking like we weren’t able to get the band together for this weekend, it would look like we had intentionally decided to go with just a piano and two vocals for the weekend.
The amazing thing is that it worked. When we were talking about it last night after the service, one of our pastors said that he had thought it was on purpose. Until he talked to another pastor who knew that it wasn’t, he thought we had planned it that way.
Going with just the piano, allowed us to go a little old school, which we don’t get to do very often, but really worked well thematically with the sermon.
Here was our set:
- Amazing Love (Mike Honholtz)
- Scripture: Romans 12:9-16
- Good To Me (Craig Musseau)
- Welcome
- Bible Sharing
- You are so Good to Me (Third Day”ish”)
- Scripture: 1 Thes. 5:16-18
- Wherever He Leads (Hymn I wrote new music too.)
- You are my King (moved this here for Sunday morning)
- Sermon
- I’m Forever Grateful. (Mark Altrogge)
Our senior pastor joined us on acoustic for Sunday morning, all we needed was an upright bass and fiddle and we could have had a pretty cool folk group up there. Maybe next time!

Valentine’s Day had quite an affect on the attendance of our band members also and our service is on Sunday! We had 5 band members out this morning, but everything came out fine. It sounds like it went well for you as well. Have a blessed week.
