Kevin’s Weekend Review 2-8-09

Hey everyone!  Well… here it is: my very first Weekend Review.  Actually, this is my very first blog.  I’m really not much of a blogger or a writer.  I have no problem getting on the air and recording a podcast with David, but this whole blogging thing is new to me and outside my box!  But I’m going to give this a try!

Pastor Mike has been going through the book of Hebrews on the sermon series: “Knowing the God Who Knows You”.  Last Sunday was all about Christ’s humility leading to His exalation (Hebrews 2:5-18).  So I really wanted to do some songs that would focus on that beautiful idea of Christ humbling Himself; an image of humility and grace leading to a place of praise.  As such, we started things off pretty mellow, but then worked our way to a place of total praise!

  • Scripture reading from the Worship Team Vocalists (Philippians 2:5-11)
  • Here I Am To Worship
  • Here is Our King (this is where things started picking up!)
  • Forever (Tomlin)
  • Jesus Messiah (also Tomlin)
  • Holy is the Lord (another Tomlin?!?)
  • King of Kings (a Clay Heacock song I learned at a Calvary Chapel conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida)
  • Offering
  • Mission Focus
  • Message
  • I Dare You to Move (Switchfoot… and it rocked!)

I kind of took a gamble on that closing Switchfoot song, but Pastor Mike really wanted it and it tied in perfectly with Mike’s closing challenge, so we did it and rocked it pretty good (especially for not having an electric guitar this week!)
